Jaśmina Parkita – born in 1988 in Kielce. During the years 2008 – 2012 she studied Graphics at the Pedagogical University in Krakow. In 2014 she obtained her diploma with honors from the Academy of Fine Arts in the Faculty of Textile and Fashion Design in the studio of Printed Fabrics under supervision of professor Krystyna Czajkowska. She has been professionally and artistically engaged in illustration, graphic design, industrial design and art prints on fabrics, designing clothes and costumes. Apart from that she paints, creates assemblages and small installations.
She had her debut in 2008, thanks to the illustrations created for the first album of the band Czeslaw Śpiewa released in Poland – the album achieved double platinum status and Jaśmina realized that this was what she wanted to do. Since then she has been cooperating with the record label Mystic Production where she creates the graphics for CDs for artists like Artur Andrus, happysad, Indios Bravos, Camero Cat and a few more for Czeslaw Śpiewa.
From 2012 on, together with Norbert Serafin she has been running a clothing brand “dzieńdobry”, which is characterized by expressive, non-chliche prints. In addition, she creates posters, covers and illustrations for books and magazines. She also tried her chances as a production designer, had her debut in Stodola in Warsaw, where she created the setting for the concert of Czeslaw Śpiewa alongside Agnieszka Miluniec.
The exhibition entitled : “SPACE VOYAGE – that is how my Heaven looks like” is – with some exceptions – a collection of recent works from 2016. Exhibition includes works made using various techniques, among other things digital graphics, backlit panels, large format of fabric, ready-mades, costumes and masks. The title of the exhibition has several meanings: the first is the desire to show how the Heaven looks from the individual perspective – in other words, “life after life” – in a rather perverse way. The subject of symbolic Heaven became very dear to me after an unexpected loss of my father in 2011. From this point in my work symbols referring to religions and mysticism started apprearing. I began also asking myself questions and  thinking about what happens after we die or if there is anything at all, and if it is, it looks like ..?
The works within the exhibition SPACE VOYAGE refer also to my dreams, fascination, love, longing, using image they present reflections on human relations, relationships, family. These works are very personal, but encrypted as a result they are not obvious but they are universal. The content is hidden in symbols, individual letters or words in the drawings, which are often created spontaneously. Emotions, feelings, experiences or even real people are hidden under the images of animals or objects. The exhibition’s title also refers to what happens in the imagination,  what happens above our heads, outside  everyday problems. Through my work, I would like to separate the recipient from everyday life and show how much is happening outside, I invite you to my mysterious, fairy-tale worlds where strange unreal landscapes are inhabited by strange  animals and cosmic situations take place.
