We invite you to take part in another day of Off Fashion Academy cnamed Reading is trendy.

In 1995 nearly 220,000 people watched the movie titled WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING (in Polish JA CIĘ KOCHAM A TY ŚPISZ) in the cinemas. Even more people watched it later thanks to VCRs or on one of the television channels. How many of those individuals were aware that the Polish title of that movie is a quote from “TANGO” by Sławomir Mrożek? Probably not many …
Actually, we do not refer to the awakening of Mister Jourdain who discovers, to his surprise, that he has been expressing himself in prose for more than forty years. The essence here is the understanding that literature as well as fashion permanently and irresistibly affect our lives. On many occasions we simply do not realize that. An outstanding Polish playwright was combined with a Hollywood romantic comedy blockbuster in a surprising manner.
Events named “Reading is trendy” taking place as part of OFF FASHION Academy offer a journey through literary connotations.
These are not merely the descriptions of costumes, it is a lifestyle, more than a shadow of a fan – it refers to a human being hidden behind these elements. A woman dressed in lace, a man in a bowler hat, a coat, a duster or even wearing an armour – all these serve as outfit components but also are the characteristics of the figure: femme fatale scented with perfume or surrounded by smoke from detective’s cigars. Life, literature and fashion are intertwined, creating fascinating portraits.
A human being is the most significant element in this context – whether in literary plots or in fashion creations. A beautiful, imperfect man. In love and full of fear as he or she worries if others are to accept him or her. Sometimes scared but ultimately finding courage to dance TANGO.
We invite you to our literary TANGO as “Reading is trendy”.
And it involves heaps of fun!
